"Humpback Whale"
Humpback Whale, 9"x9" Ink On Cedar Wood, Handmade Stained Wooden Frame & Backing
Growing up I used to always look at the picture of the humpback whale in my Dad's home office. I always loved to look at it but it was only of the tail, when in reality, I wanted to see more of the whale because as a young boy I was filled with curiosity about the world. When I created the whale, I wanted to symbolize the parts I never got to see in that picture of the tail and I was able to bring it to life.
This composition was created on a disc of cedar wood that was from a cedar tree from my childhood backyard using a micron pen. I created the backing to line up as if the whale is ripping through the surface of the ocean, swimming up toward the moon shining bright in the night sky.
