Bison, 14"x11" Charcoal & Watercolor Pencil on Bristol Board
Bison are a classic American treasure deeply valued for their powerful nature and robust character. The power of the bison is something that always caught my attention as I have personally valued the heritage they bring to the plains of this great nation.
I wanted to portray much of the western experience near Yellowstone National Park. I experienced this trip as my wife and I traveled across the united states to visit my family back near Boston, MA. As we continued on our journey I noticed the summer greenery in particular made an impression on me and inspired the green colored mountains while the browns reflected the grasses of the plains up close.
This cross country trip in particular was one I had dreamed of my whole life and being able to finally experience it made a profound impact on how I view the west, the mountains and the plains.
This artwork was created using charcoal mixed with watercolor pencil on bristol board.
